Teaching
Most recently she was a Visiting Professor
(Arts), Centre for Jawaharlal Nehru Studies, and later at the Academy of
International Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi, Design
Department--Banasthali University, Rajasthan; Visiting Professor, National Museum Institute,
National Museum, Janpath, New Delhi. She has also worked as a
teacher and consultant in Hong Kong in various institutions such as the Open Learning Institute, Hong Kong Polytechnic & St Stephen’s Girls
College. Early on she was History Teacher at St Columba’s School, New Delhi for
6 years.
Fellowships & Awards
- 1990 Award at “Asian Voices in English” sponsored by the British Council and Hong Kong University, (Hong Kong) for " When I Return".
- 1992. The Katha Award for " Blessed are my Sons”, India.
- 1995-Senior Fellowship from the Department of Culture, Government of India,
- 1995. Charles Wallace-British Council Award, at the University of Stirling, UK.
- 1998 Bread loaf Conference, Middlebury College, USA,
- 2003. Hawthornden Fellowship by the Heinz Foundation at Edinburgh, Scotland.
- Shortlisted for Homi Bhabha fellowship.
